Isaiah 6-12

Chapters 6-12 in the book of Isaiah cover a period of time in the history of God's people when - being threatened and attacked on all sides - the future looks not only bleak, but uncertain.

At the same time, these chapters offer some the most famous anticipations of the coming of the Messiah, revealing not only God's redemptive plan for His people, but also the gracious character of His person. Although His people would suffer and be reduced to a remnant, a "shoot" would come forth from the "stump" of His covenant people - Immanuel, Jesus, "God with us."
